This EP comes from Manchester based Avernian, delivering a sonic cocktail of club, bass & broken Techno. This release explores the percussive rhythms found in tribal orientated genres and refines them into three dancefloor ready tracks, including a Gqom-esk collaboration with Canadian drum extractor Strick.
Originating from the USA, Avernian (Joshua Lee) started DJing back in 2010 after seeing Headhunter & Pinch perform and finding himself inspired by what he was hearing. After immersing himself in the east coast dubstep scene, he then made the choice to move to Germany to study in Berlin and explore music further. What followed was years of collecting vinyl and honing in his craft and finding his sound, sitting somewhere between club, bass & broken techno. Now-a-days, living in Manchester, he hosts his own monthly radio show on KMAH Radio, having guests down such as Johanna Knutsson, Agrippa, Shedbug & Desto.
The idea behind this EP is to try and combine the perfect cocktail of club, bass & broken techno. 'Putrification' taking on the heavy kicks layered with club sounds as the track progresses. 'Dog Pound' sampling dogs barking, whilst alarms and distorted cowbells play through-out. 'Beef Shellington' thrashing through with syncopated drums whilst a steady droning noise builds in the background.
PJam pays homage to the genres that inspire him by distilling and mixing their core elements. With a feature from friend Terror Danjah. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 16, 2017
